Town Centres – Overview
The future metropolitan landscape is envisioned to be far less focused on a single CBD centric model and more likely to comprise numerous smaller CBD or Town Centres which will provide similar amenity as the present CBD without the inconvenience for its constituents to travel far from home.
Community based shopping centres are ideally positioned to play a critical role within this scenario, providing important community services, entertainment, health related, and wellbeing services, in addition to their present retail offering. Community based retail has the potential to become the centre piece of the “Town Centre”, a modern version of the role that the “Town Square” has assumed in the past.
